Original item. The name Mamie is engraved on the lid of the compact. Includes a cloth case, which was with it when I bought it, but may not be original to the compact.
The side with the hinge is marked STERLING and there is also a hallmark of some kind, which I haven't been able to identify. I looked at it under magnification, and made an attempt to draw it on a small piece of paper (see photo).
I asked a jewelry expert about the Sterling mark, and he looked it over and confirmed it was sterling silver.
The case measures about 2 ¾ x 2 ¾ x 3/8 inches. I put it on my digital scale (which may be off some) and I believe the compact (including the inside contents) weighs between 113 and 118 grams.
The compact has only residues of powder inside. Mirror needs cleaning. The compact case / sterling has vintage wear / scuffs / scratches / tarnish. The powder pad has wear. Sold as found.
